It cannot be repaired - it should be changed immediately; • check that the ignition timing is set correctly; • make sure that the marks on the crankshaft and camshafts match.

Try to manually pump fuel; • the pump may be faulty - unscrew the fuel hose from the carburetor, pinch it with your finger and manually pump the gasoline - a working pump will create a noticeable pressure; • check the jets (main fuel and idle speed), perhaps dirt has got into them; • press all bolts and fasteners of the carburetor.

Idling problems There are situations when the VAZ-1111 engine does not run smoothly or often stalls. Low idle speed can be the result of the following malfunctions: low or excessively high fuel level in the float chamber; • insufficient engine warm-up; • loose jets; • clogged air and fuel filters. High revs are most often due to improper idle adjustment, incorrect ignition angle, or a faulty throttle valve.

Engine Tuning

Modernization of the Oka engine is conventionally divided into two directions:

  • Replacing the motor.
  • Improving the characteristics of the standard power unit.

The ideal option for converting the Oka to an injector is to install a 1.3-liter engine from Rover Mini. Modernization allows you to increase the technical characteristics of the car, however, the cost of work is very high, since most systems must be reworked for a new engine.

The second option is to improve the engine. It is cheaper, but does not allow to achieve such an increase in power as the first one.

During production and conveyors, three models of SeAZ "Oka" came off, with different modifications of power plants, one of which was made in China ("Oka" -11116). Two other versions of this small car - 1111 and 11113 - were equipped with domestically produced engines.

The general arrangement of domestic power units was identical, the difference between them was in some design features, which had an impact on the technical characteristics of the installations.

General Description

The VAZ-1111 engine is in-line, two-cylinder, with a transverse arrangement. Thanks to this arrangement, the engine compartment has turned out to be compact, which made it possible to reduce the overall dimensions of the car. The engine received a liquid cooling system with forced circulation, a carburetor power system and an electronic ignition system.

The model 11113 has the same design of the power unit. The difference between the motors of these modifications is the basis. Version 1111 is, in fact, "half" of the 1.3-liter VAZ-2108 installation, and 11113 is the 1.5-liter engine of the same "Eight". Because of this, the motors have different engine displacement and power.

The power plant is fixed in the engine compartment on a special subframe. The manufacturer did not provide for the protection of the Oka engine.

Despite the fact that the installation was based on a 4-cylinder engine, the Oka unit has one very interesting feature - the synchronous stroke of the pistons. If you look at the Oka engine in a section, the pistons are located on the same level and “move” together, but the cylinders function separately.

The principle of operation of an engine with such a design feature is quite simple - the strokes are shifted in the cylinders. That is, if a compression stroke occurs in the 1st cylinder, then the release occurs in the 2nd. And so in all strokes, so the cylinders in this motor work alternately.

Cylinder block

The crankcase of the power plant is cast from cast iron. As in all VAZ models, the cylinders are not plug-in, but bored out in the block. Throughout the block are channels of the cooling system (the so-called "jacket").

Since the power unit is a two-cylinder, in-line, there are only three supports for the crankshaft main journals in the lower part of the block. During the production process, high-precision processing of the working surfaces of these supports is carried out together with the covers.
