Watermelons grown in the middle lane are no longer a novelty. Many are engaged in the cultivation of this culture.
However, due to the unpredictability of the weather, most gardeners use the seedling method, in which plants at the age of 25-30 days are planted under a film shelter, and at the beginning of June it is removed.
In many cases, this method is justified, although it is associated with a number of requirements that cannot always be met with high quality.
So, if sowing is done in the last five days of April, then almost all of May the seedlings should be kept at home, and then transported to the place of permanent growth under a film shelter.
Transporting and planting seedlings is stressful for the plants. Pumpkin crops do not tolerate transplanting well and therefore lag behind in growth and development in the first days and even weeks. Then, this lag is partially smoothed out - in the first, and sometimes in the second decade of June.
I set a goal for myself - to grow watermelons, eliminating the seedling period. At the very end of April, I wrapped the seeds in a damp cloth and placed them near a heat source at a temperature of 25 degrees. A week later, they turned on, and I put them in a permanent place, having completed all the preparatory work.
I dug up the soil, made deep pits, filled them with a mixture of fertile soil, humus and peat with the addition of sand and ash, poured abundantly, put bows and covered them with a film to warm the soil.
Making watermelon juice for the winter is very easy. You can only use watermelon or mix with other juices. For example, apple. What is good about watermelon in this respect is that the juice yield is very large. From 10 kg of watermelon pulp, you get about 6.5 liters of natural juice. For 10 kg of watermelon pulp, add 400 grams of sugar and 10 grams of lemon. If the taste seems bland to you, you can add more lemon. Banks must be well washed and sterilized in advance.
Squeeze the juice with a juicer. A lot of juice can remain in the cake, so squeeze it out through cheesecloth.
Pour the juice into a saucepan, add sugar with lemon or citric acid and turn on the fire.
After boiling, boil for 5-6 minutes and turn off. Be sure to remove the foam during cooking.
Immediately pour the hot juice into containers (cans, bottles) and roll up.
Watermelon honey is called "nardek" in southern countries. It is a thick, deep red-brown syrup with a fresh watermelon aroma. A wonderful delicacy for tea and for adding to all kinds of desserts. For the preparation of nardek, only the ripe red watermelons are used.
Pass the watermelon pulp through a juicer. We only need juice without fibers and seeds.
August is the time for ripe and juicy watermelons. The pulp of the fruit contains a large amount of nutritional vitamins and minerals. Regular consumption of fruits in food will cleanse the body and, at the same time, lose weight. Traditionally, everyone is accustomed to the fact that the berry has a round or oval shape. But more and more often in the markets you can see a square watermelon.
Everyone is used to the fact that a watermelon is a round berry or, in extreme cases, an oval one. But in the past few years, cubic watermelons have been seen on the market. According to its characteristics, it is the same berry, only of a different shape. There are no differences between cubic and round berries, except for the shape.
Square watermelons have been around for several years. For the first time, the Japanese managed to give the fruit a square shape. The advantages of such berries are that in this form the fruits are easier to transport. They take up less space during transport. This is the only advantage of square watermelons over round ones.
Growing watermelons outdoors is not difficult. The only limitation is that this culture does not grow in every climate. More precisely, it will be possible to grow berries only in the southern regions, where the summer is hot and long. Even in the central parts, it will not be possible to grow large fruits.
Densuke is considered one of the most expensive watermelons. This berry has an unusual dark green peel that looks black from a distance. Before planting watermelons, you need to choose the right variety.
If you have to grow the variety in the central regions, then preference should be given to zoned varieties. Such seeds are adapted to climatic conditions and give a good harvest.
Any varieties are grown in the southern regions. Early varieties of watermelons are characterized by a watery flesh. They taste not very sweet. Only late varieties of berries are sugar. In the south, seeds are immediately planted in open ground. In other regions, seedlings are first grown at home, and then transplanted to a permanent place.
Since square watermelons are no different from ordinary watermelons, they are grown in the same way. Particular attention is paid to sowing seeds. First, the seeds are germinated.

A summer holiday is rarely complete without seasonal fruits and berries. But they can be served in an original and unusual way. At the same time, super-skills and special skills are not always required. We bring to your attention options for cutting watermelon and melon for a festive table. The article contains both simple ideas for beginners and more complex options for professionals.
Regardless of the chosen method of serving, the main condition is fresh ripe fruit. It is important to choose it without signs of spoilage. Before use, you need to wash well, for a melon, you need to additionally remove the seeds.
Overripe fruits will not keep the slicing shape. For them, the most suitable option is balls (when there is a special device) or ordinary slices that need to be eaten with a spoon.
For portions, remember to put a fork on when setting the table. If the slices are very small - 1-2 bites, then toothpicks and small plastic skewers will be more relevant.
Curly cuts are easiest to do with metal canapé cutters.
Traditional slicing is from top to bottom. The top and bottom of the fruit are cut (optional), then cut into longitudinal slices 2-3 cm thick. / P>
If the pieces are made thicker, then when serving, you need a spoon.
Watermelon can also be cut like a flower. To do this, cut out a rod-shaped cylinder from the cut top to the bottom with a special device. Cut the rest of the mass into longitudinal thin slices.
