Hey there beautiful people. I’m Nerissa and welcome to my Wonderland.

In 2016 I left the sunny beaches of Australia behind me and now I’m travelling the world for my own wanderlust and of course – the desserts!

When I’m not travelling I’m either glued to my latest book purchase, writing or daydreaming of one day meeting BEYONCE… Yep, that woman is my idol!

I’m a big believer that it’s possible to achieve your dreams no matter how big or small. So whatever it is, I say go for it!

Tonight’s @seenonscreen.dance class was a huge turning point for me. Every Wednesday I show up for my classes (honestly the highlight of my week!) and every class without fail, there’s a point in the routine where I go completely blank and forget the steps. I’m so worried about “stuffing up” the routine, that I get in my head and rather than starting the dance full of confidence, I start it full of fear. But tonight when a girl sat out during her groups turn because she was scared, all I wanted to do was give her a hug and tell her to forget the steps, to just have fun because she’s amazing no matter what. And then it hit me. I felt so strongly about it for her, so why can’t I feel the same for me. It doesn’t matter if I mess up a few steps, I’m learning, and I know I’ll get there eventually. What’s important is having fun, feeling the music and feeling confident in what steps I do know. Fear of failing holds us back, when really, we should look at failure as a learning opportunity. I would have stood beside that girl and done that routine over and over, mistakes and all, until she felt like she could do it. Because I’m sure she can. So next week, and every week after, I’m going to have nothing but confidence going into my classes (I can freestyle it up if my mind goes blank 😂) and if I see anyone scared like I’ve been in the past, I’m going to stand beside them and help them through it. Why? I wasn’t born with confidence, thinking I was a superhero. But eventually I found my inner Wonder Woman and since then, I’ve never looked back. As children we believe we can conquer the world but somewhere between then and adulthood, our enthusiasm to dream big is squashed. My answer to that? “Oh no he didn’t!” Have the confidence to believe that you can do anything you set your mind too. Because you 100% CAN. As women we’re taught to compete with one another, to compare ourselves to what society believes is ‘beautiful’. Well it’s time to ignore that! Embrace your individuality, embrace every inch of your beautiful body (because you are beautiful and don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise). You are you for a reason, and that’s your superpower. There are still times when I get sweaty palms just thinking about new challenges that face me, but I’ve learnt that success doesn’t make me confident. Confidence in myself and my abilities, make me successful. We cannot always do great things, but we can do small things with great love 💕This was taken after my time volunteering for @mariecurieuk Daffodil Appeal last year. I was exhausted but my heart was full. The time is approaching for their 2019 collections and as someone who lost a loved one and knows the importance and value of hospice care, volunteering my time is the least I can do. So if you can spare some time this March, please do.
