Crafts for children with their own hands from improvised means at home

Before starting work on the layout, it would be best to find out how the volcano actually works. Read thematic literature, watch videos and cutaway pictures of the volcano. This will give you a better idea of where to start your layout. Let's just remind that the volcano should consist of magma, craters and lava.

We offer you several unusual and interesting options for making a model of a volcano quickly and easily with your own hands.

What is a volcano?

Before starting work, it will be interesting and useful for children to learn what a volcano is and what parts it consists of.

A volcano is a mountainous formation that appeared naturally above faults in the earth's crust, through which lava comes to the surface. Lava is magma that has come to the surface and got rid of gases. Magma is a liquid, burning component of the earth's crust.

The volcano is most often represented as a high mountain, from the mouth of which steam is falling and lava is escaping. This is not entirely true, it can have not only the shape of a mountain, but also be quite low, like a geyser or a small hill.

Pay attention to the sectional diagram of the volcano. The incandescent magma rises along the vent to the surface, where it turns into lava, bursting out through the crater. During the eruption, it is extremely dangerous nearby.

In our article, you will get acquainted with the creation of various layouts of the volcano. You will be able to make a cutaway model. Such work will serve as a good teaching aid for children.

Running an experiment

Finally, the island is ready. All toy animals and people froze in anticipation of an interesting event - a volcanic eruption. They know that the volcano is not real and therefore are not afraid of it.

For the experiment, pour a tablespoon of soda into a jar-mouth of the volcano. Add a tablespoon of dish detergent. Red or orange food coloring is dissolved in 100 milligrams of water and poured into baking soda and detergent. The basis for the experiment is ready, it remains to add vinegar. Mom, you can let the child pour vinegar into the volcano on their own, under her supervision, so that he does not do it in her absence. It is better to repeat the experiment for an encore, pouring vinegar into the "mouth" of the volcano and pouring soda there, while the child is interested and asks to repeat the experiment.

When the vinegar is added, the soda will begin to foam, erupting out of the "volcano" like red or orange lava. The detergent will allow the "lava" to foam longer and more profusely, overflowing from the vent and flooding the surroundings along with plants and animals that are inadvertently placed too close.

Materials and tools required

Components for crafting:

  • Cardboard with a density of 260-280 g / m3.
  • Several pieces of different fabrics.
  • Glue (the more the better).
  • Lots of fleece.
  • Materials for decoration (beads, beads, etc.).
  • Paper tape.
  • Stationery tools.

Shape of the cardboard box

Simple rectangular or square

A DIY craft box made of cardboard is formed from a box and paper tubes. First you need to choose a suitable base for the box - for example, a shoe box. It is better to take a base for the bottom about A4 sheet size or less, so it will be easier to go through the finishing process.

To form the tubes, you need glue, knitting needles. For weaving, you can use straws made of plain paper for printing, unnecessary press and magazines. The finished cardboard box can be painted with acrylics or left as it is.

It is advantageous to use colored paper for the printer: it has an extensive color palette.

The process of making a cardboard box with your own hands does not take much time. First, you need to glue the vertical tubes outside the box, which serve as guides. You need to glue in the interval of 4-6 cm - it all depends on the size of the box. Further, the tubes are bent onto the side faces, and then inward.

A sealed cardboard, suitable in size, is glued to the bottom, which will hide the place where the tubes are fixed. Then the tubes are intertwined around the circumference of the base. The lid also folds down.

I think everyone who was even in the least interested in scrapbooking paid attention to intricate square boxes with a lid and folding walls, called magic box (in Russian - a magic box or in a borrowed version - magic box, magic boxing). They are very laconic on the outside, but as soon as the lid is removed, a downright miraculous transformation takes place, the form changes, and bright, meaningful, and sometimes almost fabulous paintings with blossoming flowers, butterflies soaring open up. This unexpected contrast creates a real explosion of emotions. It is no coincidence that many craftswomen have their own variations of such surprise boxes in their creative arsenal.

And today I want to bring to your attention a master class on creating a magic box with fluttering butterflies, which was prepared for us by Vita Ermakova.

Vita's works of authorship are well known in the Land of Masters. Some of her creations were also presented on our website (in this master class) and in the e-book “27 Ways to Confess Your Love”.

The new master class turned out to be quite voluminous, so I had to split it into 2 parts. But then you can see how to make a magic box, as they say, "from and to". At the same time, due to the abundance of practical techniques and tricks, this MK, I am sure, will be useful to many beginners in scrapbooking.

It is best to get the kids interested in the DIY hut. Heroes of fairy tales and cartoon characters can be placed in it.

There are a lot of models. In this article, we will analyze the main possible options.

Simple hut

Since there are several possible manufacturing methods, we will consider them in turn. You can make a wooden version, in which case you will need a log house or boards. It is better to give preference to boards, it is easier to work with them, but the log house will certainly look more like a real hut, but also harder to work with.

Construction has certain stages:

  • The base of the hut is the legs. Initially, they have to be fixed, because this is the basis of the entire structure.
  • Next, the base for the floor is prepared.
  • After the walls are erected, the roof is laid on them.
  • The penultimate stage is the staircase, which also serves as a support.
  • And the most favorite stage is decorating and finishing the house.

As described in the stepwise sequence, let's start the construction from the feet. For them, we need two logs, they should be about a meter in length.

To protect the legs from premature wear, we will saturate them thoroughly with anti-rotting agent. Now we will dig two depressions in the ground, half the length of the logs - half a meter each.

And firmly fixing the logs there with small stones, fill everything with cement.

Alternatively, you can use pipes instead of logs, which are decorated with snags after installation.

When the concrete is completely dry, it's time to install the sub-floor. In this master class, it is proposed to make a hut 1.8 m long. Therefore, it is these bars that are taken and fixed, stretching across two logs. The width of one bar is 20 * 20 cm. / P>
