Brooder replaces the hatched quail chicks with a hen - its size directly depends on the number of young. You can make a structure yourself or buy a ready-made model.

Making a brooder

You can make a brooder for quails with your own hands, focusing on ready-made drawings. The size of the box is chosen in accordance with the number of livestock - for 80 day old chicks, a brooder with an area of ​​50x70x50 cm is enough. For the manufacture of the structure you will need:

  • timber 20x30 mm;
  • plywood or OSB-plate for walls;
  • galvanized mesh for the bottom and for doors (5x5 mm) ;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • galvanized sheet for the pallet;
  • infrared heating film;
  • lamp.

Cut out of plywood or OSB:

  • 2 side walls - 50x50 cm;
  • 3 pieces 70x50 cm (bottom, ceiling, back wall);
  • 3 pieces of timber 50 cm each;
  • 2 pieces of timber 70 cm each.

The base frame is assembled from 2 long and 3 short bars. A grid with a minimum cell size is fixed on it (later it will need to be replaced with a larger one).

2 side walls are screwed to the frame with the mesh so that a distance of about 6 cm remains from it to the floor. The bottom is fixed with self-tapping screws.

As a result of such manipulations, a free space (niche) remains under the net - there will subsequently be a tray for collecting droppings.

The rear wall is attached to the sides, having previously drilled holes in the material. This will prevent cracking. 10 cm wide strips are attached to the front side above and below the brooder. / P>

Do-it-yourself welding of polypropylene pipes is done quite simply and quickly, however, you need to have some knowledge of how to perform this procedure. Naturally, you should have at least a minimal understanding of the operation of the equipment that is used to join the plastic.

What materials are needed for the job?

DIY welding of polypropylene pipes is done using the following materials and tools:

  • a specific device, the power of which should not be lower than 1500 W (it is desirable that it can be connected to a regular 220V power outlet);
  • mounts, thanks to which it will be possible to fix parts of plastic elements;
  • a hexagon and a level;
  • tape measures (for marking pipes);
  • special scissors that are used to cut elements;
  • contact thermometer;
  • cotton napkin;
  • hole pattern.

Getting ready

Do-it-yourself welding of polypropylene pipes requires some preparation. For example, the apparatus, which will be used to connect the elements, must be equipped with a special attachment. She, in turn, must be well fixed. The device for welding polypropylene pipes (soldering iron) must be heated well and maintained at a stable temperature. It should fluctuate in the range of 250-270 degrees.

It is advisable to clean the places that will connect and warm up with a natural napkin. This action will prevent damage to the Teflon coating. In order for the joint to be well welded, it is advisable to carefully treat the edges of the pipe parts with a degreasing agent. Be sure to take into account all the angles at which the elements must be cut so that the connection is as strong and accurate as possible.

Features of work and some nuances of performing actions

If you will be welding polypropylene pipes, the instruction provides for a certain sequence of actions:

  • After basic preparation, the plastic should be marked. That is, using a marker on the pipes, you need to apply marks along which you will cut them. To do this, use a tape measure. For cutting, a special fixing structure must be used.
  • Next, make sure the edges of the pipe elements are even. They must not have any cracks, burrs or other defects. For this, fine-grained sandpaper can be used.
  • You need fittings to connect the elements. They must be put on a part of the pipe before heating. After that, the edges can be processed with a soldering iron. Further, the elements are simply connected to each other and soldered. Naturally, this must be done carefully so that the seams are of high quality and even.

    There are certain features due to which welding of polypropylene pipes, carried out by hand, needs special care and attention. For example, you should have spare parts that you can use instead of the damaged ones. Before doing any work, all calculations must be done on paper. You may need to draw a pipe connection diagram.
