Pine in the garden - pros and cons

Gluing wallpaper is a whole science, so beginners usually get flaws at first. Is it only for beginners? Even if you have glued your fiftieth roll, there is no guarantee that after a while some kind of defect will not be found, for example, the seams between the panels that you so carefully connected will disperse. Why is this happening and how to fix it?

Joints: Answers to one "why"

So, what can cause the wallpaper mismatch.

So, there are several options:

  • Initial material defect: an uneven edge of the roll or improper transportation, during which the edge was damaged. So when buying, be sure to check not only the consistency of the batch, but also the condition of the packaging.
  • The seam may become visible if the surface of the wall is not perfectly flat. Even a slight bend can result in an edge defect.
  • If you used paper wallpaper, the joints may form due to the uneven impregnation of the panel with glue. That is, somewhere the glue soaked the material well, but somewhere it did not have time to absorb. Paper wallpaper must be glued in compliance with all the recommendations on the packaging and especially the rules for applying glue.
  • The climate in the room where you are doing the renovation. Everyone knows that while the wallpaper is drying, it is impossible to arrange drafts. But this is not enough. In fact, a couple of days before gluing, a stable humidity and temperature should be established in the room and remain so until the wallpaper is completely dry. Only this approach will ensure uniform drying of the material without distortions and divergence of joints.
  • Wallpaper seams diverge in places where there is an additional heat source. For example - a riser of heating pipes. If you place the joint right behind it, it will seem that it is less noticeable, but this is where the wallpaper will disperse the most.

A little tip! Be sure to keep the roll tags and purchase receipt. A panel defect may be revealed after gluing, and then you will have the opportunity to prove the presence of a defect to the seller and return the money.

How to disguise wallpaper joints if they become noticeable

Why is this happening, we figured it out, but what to do if it did happen? Correct the situation, of course. And there are several ideas for that.

If you have paintable wallpaper - the task is not so difficult. First of all, don't expect to hide the seam with a couple of coats of paint. It will still be noticeable. Take some time for a quality repair. And acrylic putty or acrylic sealant will help you with this.

Then take a damp (not wet, but well wrung out) foam sponge and remove excess acrylic.

Conifers on the site not only look great at any time of the year, but also purify the air, saturate it with an unobtrusive and pleasant aroma of needles. Breeders have bred such a huge number of thujas, junipers, pines and small firs that any even the most demanding gardener will definitely select the variety for the site that will become its main decoration.

The main advantages of planting conifers on the site are:

  • a large assortment of trees and shrubs;
  • unpretentious care;
  • long lifespan;
  • resistance to negative factors (drought, frost);
  • aesthetic evergreen look;
  • harmonious combination with other decorative dwarf trees and shrubs, for example, with rhododendrons, barberries, hydrangeas;
  • < li> environmental friendliness. Ephedra secrete essential oils that purify the air and saturate it with the scent of the forest.

As for the disadvantages of planting conifers on the site, there are practically none. The only thing is that some gardeners have noticed that the close proximity of some conifers (such as junipers) next to fruit trees (for example, pears) can infect them with fungal diseases (rust on the leaves).

But when planting a pine, it is worth considering that it reacts very much to the air around it. It is not recommended to plant it next to the roadway, since the needles on the pine will begin to turn yellow from exhaust gases, dust and smoke, and the tree itself will wither.

Also, the disadvantages of planting pine on the site include the fact that with an incorrectly selected variety, a tree in an adult state can reach enormous sizes and greatly darken the site.

Attention: do not plant pine trees near buildings. They have a very powerful root system that can destroy the foundation over time.
