The Bogoslovka Estate is one of the most amazing places in the vicinity of St. Petersburg. Ethnopark Bogoslovka is unique not only for its buildings, but also for its landscape. A unique atmosphere of comfort and harmony reigns on the territory of the park - it seems to transfer it to several centuries ago, where the amazing now carved buildings of ancient architects were not a curiosity, but a common thing.
The Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in the Bogoslovka ethnopark is made entirely of wood (including domes) and not without reason resembles the famous ensemble of the Kizhi Pogost, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is located on the island of Kizhi, in the middle of Lake Onega. The image of the ensemble of churches and a bell tower of the 18th-19th centuries bears a striking resemblance to the buildings of the Bogoslovka estate.
In Kizhi, the main temple is called the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, and in the Bogoslovka estate of St. Petersburg, a temple in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. Of course, these are two different temples, albeit externally similar to each other.
There is information that the project of the temple in the estate "Bogoslovka" in the Leningrad region was conceived by Peter I himself and built on the banks of the Vytegra River, which is in the Vologda region, and that after it was built in 1708, the tsar repeatedly visited him.
Historians suggest that this temple is associated with the buildings of the reserve on the island of Kizhi. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Kizhi churchyard was erected after the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos for about five years - in 1714. It is assumed that both churches may have created the same craftsmen. Due to the fact that during the construction of both churches the principle was applied: "without a single nail." For the estate in the Leningrad Region, the temple was reconstructed in 2006 by the architect A.V. Opolovnikov. According to the drawings of the temple, destroyed by fire in 1963, located in the Vologda region, in the village of Ankhimovo, Vytegorsky churchyard (at that time it was not yet a region, but Olonets province).
It was specially decided to erect it in a new place in order to increase the interest of residents of nearby places in the national culture and history of ancient architecture. Today, services are being held in the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos.
In the ethnopark of wooden architecture, everyone can become not only spectators, but also active participants in what is happening. The complex has:
