Adenium or desert rose - cultivation and care

Adenium is a plant that amazes with its natural beauty and vibrant flowers that appear in abundance among the leaves. Although it is native to the Arabian Peninsula and Africa, it sometimes ends up in our homes, where it grows beautifully in a pot.

Origin and features

Adenium, or desert rose, is a representative of treelike stem succulents. Under natural conditions, it grows on the Arabian Peninsula, as well as in the desert regions of Africa, reaching up to 3 meters in height. In our climate, we can afford to grow it in pots in which it grows up to a maximum of 1.5 meters, although this happens extremely rarely. The sap that this plant secretes is very toxic, so it is not suitable for a house where animals live. Special care should be taken with young children as well.

The adenium has a characteristic narrow trunk that widens downwards (caudex). It stores water in itself. At the top of the trunk are thick branches, completely covered with evergreen leaves. The flowering period of the plant is from March to September. Desert rose flowers come in a variety of colors, although purple, pink, and white varieties are most common.

Growing and caring

Caring for Adenium will not require much time or effort from us. You have to choose a warm, bright and sunny place. However, you should beware of direct sunlight in the hottest weather, as they can burn the leaves of the plant. Usually it can stand on the south window, but in the summer it is worth moving it to the windowsill on the east side.

In a pot, the plant needs a light, permeable and nutrient-rich substrate. It should be watered systematically, but do not overdo it with the amount of water (it has the ability to accumulate water and withstands long periods of drought). It absolutely does not tolerate flooding and temperature drops below +10 degrees - this can lead to the death of the plant.

Fertilize Adenium from spring to early autumn (March-September) - for this you should use fertilizers for cacti and other succulents.

When transplanting, do not forget about the drainage in the pot in the form of small pebbles or expanded clay. The holes in the pot will facilitate water drainage and prevent stagnation.

Adenium is propagated by seeds sown in spring or by spring cuttings from the shoots of the mother plant. All care procedures should be carried out with gloves, as the juice contained in the plant can irritate the skin.

Adenium or desert rose - cultivation and care

Stretch ceiling is a stylish decorative finish made of dirt and dust repellent materials. Therefore, caring for him for a long time is not difficult. But still, in the process of long-term operation, ugly persistent stains may appear on the suspended structure. Knowing how to clean a stretch ceiling, you can solve the problem yourself without spoiling the smooth surface.

Material types

Stretch ceilings are endowed with good aesthetic properties and high technical parameters. Hanging canvases are made of two types of material - fabric and polyvinyl chloride. Each type of product has its own characteristics:

  • Tissue. The textile construction is made of polymer-impregnated synthetic fibers. The canvases look beautiful, but they are not highly elastic and water-resistant. In case of accidental flooding, the material is quickly saturated with moisture and requires immediate drying. Otherwise, stains and stains will remain on it, which cannot be removed by anything.
  • Based on PVC. Polyvinyl chloride film is a lightweight, fairly strong and moisture resistant canvas. Such designs are matte, satin, and glossy. Due to the absence of pores in the material, dirt does not penetrate into the structure of the product, but remains on top. Therefore, it is much easier to care for such a decorative finish.

A dry cleaning method is used for a textile stretch ceiling. Fresh dirt is removed with a bristle nozzle and a vacuum cleaner. If stains appear, they can be gently washed off with a soft cloth and soapy water.

When removing stains from the film, it should be borne in mind that the PVC base is not resistant to mechanical damage. It is easy to leave scratches on it from any hard objects.

PVC material can be easily cleaned with detergents. It should be borne in mind that it is much more difficult to remove foam stains from a glossy surface. Rinse thoroughly with water and wipe dry with a soft cloth. It is recommended to use alcohol solutions or cleaners to restore shine.

When caring for the suspended ceiling canvases, do not use:

  • brushes, rags and scouring pads with a rigid base;
  • cleaning agents containing dyes;
  • detergents containing alcohol;
  • cleaners with abrasive particles.

The use of such solutions contributes to the destruction of the material, the formation of streaks and new stains.

Removing traces of fat

Yellow sticky spots on the surface of the hanging structure are mainly formed in the kitchen during cooking. Dust and fat droplets are mixed in the air, and under the influence of vapors adhere to the plane of the stretch ceiling. Ugly dark traces spoil the aesthetic appearance of the entire room.

You can remove greasy marks on the ceiling using simple improvised means. For this you need:
