The attic, which makes it possible to effectively use the overlapping area of a private house, is a rather complicated structure. As a rule, homeowners entrust its construction to experienced craftsmen - roofers. But if you are a doc in carpentry and are not afraid of difficulties, then you can certainly cope with the task on your own. The first step is to gain theoretical knowledge about how a mansard roof is calculated and built with your own hands according to individual drawings. This information, presented as a step-by-step guide, can be found in this article.
For the construction of an attic floor, instead of a regular attic, the following types of roofs are suitable (shown in the diagram below):
Note. As you can see from the diagram, various half-hip roofs are complicated gable roofs, so there is no point in considering them separately. In terms of design, the multi-gable structure shown in the photo is of interest, but a decent experience is needed to build it.
The gable mansard roof is the simplest in execution and economical in terms of material consumption. But you will have to pay for this with a smaller usable area and inclined walls of the attached floor, which do not allow placing tall furniture. This will not be a problem if it is planned to equip a bedroom in the attic - the beds will calmly stand near the longitudinal walls. Another way to solve the problem is to raise the rafter system to the required height, as shown in the drawing below.
A roof with broken shapes is the most popular option, since it allows you to make full-fledged living rooms upstairs. If you do not provide protruding windows on its slopes, then, according to the installation technology, such a roof is not much more complicated than a gable roof, although the consumption of building materials will increase. To simplify your choice, we suggest considering and comparing the 3 most common options for an attic superstructure for a private house in standard sizes 6 x 6 m:
For convenience, we have depicted all three structures in one drawing, which can be taken as a basis for future construction.
Note. A board with a cross section of 50 x 150 mm was taken as the main building material for the manufacture of rafters and other frame elements.
To choose the best of the three options, we suggest studying the comparative table, which presents the parameters of the attic premises per 1 running meter of the building's length.
Knowing the length of the roof slopes indicated on the plate, you can roughly estimate the consumption of building materials for the frame, coating and insulation. The following table makes it possible to estimate the total area of rooms on the second floor when implementing all 3 solutions in private houses with different sizes.
It's autumn in the yard. A great time for creativity, making crafts from natural materials. Maybe these ideas, gleaned from different sites, will inspire you to your own creativity or creativity with children :)))

Let's consider the creation of a decorative panel from millet. As a drawing there will be a fairy-tale character "Pinocchio" on the lawn under a tree. This panel will perfectly fit into the interior of a children's room, and children will be good helpers for work. They will like such an exciting activity.
A panel of flowers can become a bright and beautiful accent in the interior of your apartment. Read more in the article:
First, wrap the plywood base well with a cloth and glue it. Wait for the glue to dry. Then we create a drawing with a pencil and apply PVA glue with a thin thread along the contour of Pinocchio. Then, using a skewer, lay out the millet grains tightly with a chain strictly one by one. Let the outline dry and then paint it with a simple pencil, making it more expressive. Next, fill the entire drawing with millet inside with a thin layer. We cover the tree on the lawn with a gruel of tea and glue, such a mass is very similar to real bark. Then we add gouache to the branches of the tree, the background of the panel, sand and birds, and also paint our Pinocchio. After the paint has dried, we decorate the panel with artificial grass, flowers and sand, and glue the dried leaves onto the tree. It remains only to apply a few coats of clear varnish. That's it, the work is complete. The decorative panel "Buratino" on the lawn is ready.
You can apply a drawing to the base using carbon paper, in this case the drawing will be more precise and expressive.
