Badge "Guard" Historical information:

On May 21, 1943, the "Guard" badge was instituted for servicemen of units and formations awarded the title of Guards. The artist S.I.Dmitriev was instructed to draw a drawing of the future sign.

As a result, a laconic and at the same time expressive project was adopted, representing a five-pointed star framed by a laurel wreath, above it a red banner with the inscription "Guard".

The difference was that on the flag of the Guards Army the sign was depicted in a wreath of oak branches, and on the banner of the Guards Corps - without a wreath

The PSM pistol was developed by Tula designers from TsKIBSOO L. L. Kulikov, T. I. Lashnev, A. A. Simarin. The idea of the main pistol layout was borrowed from the foreign Walther PP.

In 1972, a competition was held, which tested two samples - PSM and one more pistol - BV-025.

According to the test results, the PSM won an unconditional victory, which showed excellent combat characteristics, high ergonomics and ease of control, balancing when shooting and accuracy, corresponding to the requirements.

At the same time, BV-025 was noticeably inferior to him in the quality of automation and could not fully realize himself with the MPC patron.
