How to make a delicious bouquet with your own hands

How to make a bouquet: assembly step by step

Learning to collect bouquets with your own hands is a skill that is useful not only for beginner florists, but also for those, for example, who grow flowers in the country and periodically give them to their loved ones, go make bouquets by September 1 on their own. How to make a bouquet of roses so that it looks beautiful and does not fall apart? We demonstrate the step-by-step assembly of a round bouquet.

There are many different forms of gift bouquets, let's start with the most popular and simpler one, namely round. I'll walk you through the basics of its layout and the different build points.

My choice fell on flowers available all year round - roses, spray chrysanthemums and salal. But even the simplest plants, correctly selected in color, will be able to play in the hands of a florist.

How to prepare flowers and greenery for a bouquet

The first stage is preparation of the material. It is necessary to remove all thorns and leaves from the stems of roses, leaving only a couple of upper leaves for internal volume. And at the assemblage point and below the leaves and thorns should not be - this rule applies to both flowers and greenery. If the leaves are at or below the assemblage point, they will start to rot in the water, leading to rapid spoilage of the entire bouquet, not to mention the fact that unpeeled stems spoil the view.

If desired, remove the so-called shirt from the buds - the first layer of petals. These petals are usually unsightly and serve as a protective barrier as the bud matures, but sometimes create a vintage-looking effect, so this step is up to you.

Assembling a bouquet for beginners

Assembling a bouquet in a spiral is the most popular technique in floristry. It allows you to make bouquets very voluminous even from a small amount of material. First, you need to choose a large flower that will be the center of the bouquet - around it we will place all the other flowers and greens. With such an assembly, the bouquet must be held in the left hand, and the flowers must be added with the right (for a left-handed person - the opposite).

In your left hand, take the flower that will be in the center and hold it in front of you. Then take the next flower with your right hand, tilt it so that the bud looks at your left shoulder, and set it to the central one with an offset. Now you are holding two flowers in your left hand.

Next, we repeat the same algorithm, applying flowers and greens to each other with a slight offset, obliquely. As the bouquet grows, the angle of the location of each next flower will increase.

In round-shaped gift bouquets, it is customary to place greens between flowers, in our case it will be salal. It will give the bouquet a splendor and color contrast (due to the green color of the leaves). We also lay the greens in a spiral, directing the tops to the left shoulder. Make sure that the material (greenery and flowers) is evenly distributed throughout the bouquet.

How to assemble a bouquet with your own hands: floristry for beginners

Floristry is an art that includes the ability to make bouquets and other floral arrangements from a wide variety of materials. In this business, not only cut natural flowers are used, but also herbs, leaves, fruits, dry branches.

Today it is very fashionable to make bouquets of edible products, which include dried fruits, sweets, sausages.

The art of making bouquets of fresh flowers includes a lot of necessary knowledge, but all of them can be obtained through video tutorials or consultations with specialists.

Where to start when making bouquets of fresh flowers?

Flower arrangement is a very fun activity that can require certain skills.

To make a high-quality and effective composition, you need to adhere to these rules:

  • First of all, the gender of the person to whom the composition will be presented is taken into account. For women, they generally create rounded bouquets, for men - elongated ones, but the size of the composition may depend on various factors.
  • When making a bouquet with your own hands, you must take into account the combination of colors and sizes of buds. Regardless of the situation, it is best to use no more than 3 colors. If purple lilacs are added to the bouquet, it will look ugly next to red or yellow tulips. In this case, it is better to use buds with white or pink colors. This combination will help create a light spring bouquet that can be complemented with lilac hyacinths.
  • It is necessary to be very careful with the selection of plants. Some may be incompatible or even suppress each other's appearance. When composing bouquets, it is necessary to take into account the intensity of the aroma, especially if the person to whom it will be presented is allergic.
  • Before composing the composition, you need to prepare all the necessary material, also cut the stems at an angle of 45 degrees and first place them in water.
  • To decorate the created bouquet, you can use any accompanying material that is sold in floristic departments.

Important! When creating any of the compositions, you should not overload it with unnecessary decor materials, because they can draw all the attention to themselves.

What tools will the florist need?

Buying the tools necessary to create bouquets is not worth saving. They must be of high quality, and in some cases, sharp.

There is always a reason to give flowers. A holiday, birthday, wedding, family celebration - no matter how luxurious gift is presented to these events, it will be incomplete without "floristic accompaniment". Even a modest bouquet of fresh flowers with his own hands evokes the most incredible emotions, especially if he knows how to speak in a special "secret" language.

Symbols of floral arrangements

Not only each plant individually means certain feelings, but also a combination of several species with each other. For example, one scarlet rose expresses passion, but next to white and pink buds, it can be interpreted as proposing a serious relationship based on love and trust. Interestingly, it is generally not recommended for mature enough adults to give the “queen of gardens”, either in a single copy or in mono-bouquets. It is considered overly playful.

Only in early youth is it appropriate to give spring compositions from lilacs. Her lush tassels testify to the birth of first love. More mature and less ephemeral feelings are expressed with a bouquet of tulips, irises and chrysanthemums.

The combination of lilies and eustoma can be perceived as a hidden compliment to girlish beauty. Camellias, peony roses or gardenias also speak of the admirer's admiration. But if the bouquet arrangement consists mainly of exotics, then the girl to whom it is addressed is considered unusual and singled out from the crowd.

Be careful when giving your loved ones and loved ones daffodils, yellow carnations, petunias - these plants symbolize negative feelings.

Flowers of the first freshness

The beauty of living plants is only fully revealed when they are perfectly fresh. Buds losing their elasticity, drooping, dull leaves, and other signs of wilting immediately destroy the favorable impression. To prevent this from happening, the plants must be properly prepared.

Cutting and drinking

If the components for the arrangement are collected in their own garden, it is advisable to choose a clear, dry day and start cutting in the early morning or evening when the sun goes down. You can store the "harvest" in a cool room or on a refrigerator shelf at a temperature of + 5 ° C. Before you start assembling a bouquet, the plants are well saturated with water, especially when you plan to make a composition on your own stems.

To prevent rapid fading it is necessary:

  • Remove the lower leaves, and the roses also have thorns, otherwise they will rot in the water.
  • Make an oblique cut on the stems, keeping them under water (then air will not get inside). Use only a clerical knife, not scissors, which crush the capillary mesh.
  • The dense stems of roses and other shrubs need extra scoring to absorb water efficiently.
  • Hydrangea can be "invigorated" with boiling water. The stem is immersed in it for 15 to 20 minutes. Then the part standing in boiling water is removed, and the inflorescences, thanks to the procedure, "live" much longer.
  • The cut on the stems of dahlias and peonies is burned on fire, otherwise they will release toxins.

The water in which the flowers stand should be at least filtered. Better to use a well or rainwater.

The edible bouquet is an interesting alternative to the usual floral one. Even made with your own hands, it attracts the eyes of guests. To take into account the wishes of the recipient, we present simple master classes on making delicious bouquets, which include universal products. In such a gift, the following are appropriate: vegetables, fruits, meat, cheeses, nuts, sweets. To pack an edible bouquet, we will select several available options that will be practical and harmonious in the original present.

The benefits of a delicious bouquet

An edible composition is formed from the following products: meat, sausages, drinks, sweets, vegetables, fruits, fish, seafood, nuts. But at the same time, their compatibility is taken into account. You need to know the preferences of the person to whom the gift is given in order to collect suitable ingredients or collect neutral sets. The product bouquet has the following advantages over a traditional flower arrangement:

  • a grocery bouquet is an excellent gift not only for women, but also for men and children;
  • It is very easy to prepare a delicious composition with your own hands thanks to numerous master classes and simplicity of the process;
  • vegetables, fruits look original in the composition, and the gift with them is colorful and useful;
  • practicality of the presentation, since its contents can be eaten together with the donor or offered to guests; <
  • the ingredients for a simple arrangement are cheaper than some flower bouquets.

Packaging options for a bouquet

The content of the gift bouquet is the main part, but the wrapper creates the image and dictates the composition. With its help, you can improve the composition, make it brighter, more presentable:

  • Opaque thick kraft paper. A packaging option that is democratic in appearance and price. The stores sell different colors and textures. The paper hides the skewers on which vegetables and fruits are strung. But among the minuses is that it easily crumples and breaks; when in contact with fatty foods, unpresentable spots appear on it.
  • Cart. The basket holds a large amount of fruits, vegetables, drinks. With the right selection, you can be sure that it will withstand all the ingredients. Products in it look original and aesthetically pleasing. But it is inconvenient to carry it in your hands due to its large dimensions.
  • DIY box. An affordable packaging option, the box can be found in any home. For the composition, packaging from cookies and sweets is used. It is decorated with a gift wrap and filled with food. The disadvantage is that such a gift, without proper accuracy and skill, can produce an unaesthetic sight.
  • Capsho for flower plants. Pros: the composition in such a package is stable, looks aesthetically pleasing. For decoration, use twine or tape. Minus: a floral sponge, into which sticks for a gift are stuck, sometimes hard to find. Get out of the situation by gluing foam.
  • Wooden box. The food composition in a wooden box looks original; it is practical to give such a gift to a man. In addition, the packaging is strong and will withstand a large number of ingredients. But it is expensive. If you need a certain size, you will have to order the box from the workshop. Feminine composition in a large wooden box may seem heavy and unwieldy.
  • Floristic box. Large boxes can hold a lot of food, drinks. Models with rope handles are more convenient because the container is easier to carry. Flower bouquets in hat boxes for women are ideal. But the prices for boxes are high in specialized florist shops or gift shops, and it is difficult to find them in retail.

Note! The packages can be partially combined or supplemented. Craft with sausage ingredients is more appropriate in a gift for a man, a hat box with macaroons - for a woman.

Tools for assembling a grocery bouquet

The composition is assembled so that it is held securely. For a strong attachment you need the following tools:

  • Skewers. Primary element of an edible composition. Vegetables, fruits, sausages, pieces of cheese are strung on sticks. Candies, packs of goodies, sauces, bottles of drinks are glued to the skewers.
  • Scotch tape. Tape the sticks together to make a bouquet. They are wrapped around skewers in the middle, at the base and near the places where vegetables are strung.
  • Toothpicks. Berries, soft fruits are strung on them: strawberries, figs. Then they are attached with adhesive tape to sticks or stuck into hard vegetables and fruits.
  • cling film. Cut products are wrapped with it so that they do not become weather-beaten, retain their appearance and freshness. The vegetables are wrapped with foil, fixed with tape at the base.
  • Floral wire. Greens or twigs of plants are wrapped with it, and then stuck into a sponge for flowers. But this element is often replaced with scotch tape. The twigs are tied with tape to the skewers and also stuck into the sponge.
  • Glue gun. Unpeeled nuts are difficult to place harmoniously in the composition, scotch tape will ruin the picture. Therefore, a glue gun comes to the rescue, the nuts are attached with it to a stick.
  • Floral sponge. Skewers with skewered sausages, crayfish or shrimps are injected into them. The alternative is polystyrene.
  • Pruner or kitchen scissors. The ends of the sticks or wire, which are knocked out of the overall composition, are cut with tools.
  • Strong thread, twine. They are used to decorate the packaging or they complement the attachments at the bases of skewers and toothpicks.
  • Stapler. They fasten the wrapping paper, the edges of which fall apart and look sloppy.
  • Disposable gloves. Hygiene is important with food. In addition, hands are saturated with the smell of sausages, suffer from hot peppers, and gloves protect against this and the smells do not mix.

Note! Stock up on all materials and tools at once. It is much easier to pick up a master class and a set of products first, and then buy the missing one.

For any girl, a wedding is one of the most important events in her life. Memories of her are preserved forever, and beautiful photos, with correctly selected images of the bride and groom, serve as a pleasant reminder of the past celebration. And if everything is more or less clear with the image of the groom, then the image of the bride is always individual and is created based on many factors. Flowers play not the last place in this image. Collecting a wedding bouquet with your own hands means bringing to life the ideal composition as you imagine it.

The role of the accessory

A bouquet is an essential accessory for any bride. It complements the image, makes it more gentle, chaste.

Attention! The bouquet is collected from a wide variety of flowers and plants, it can be alive and artificial, of any color, size and content, and in some compositions flowers are not used at all.

Some girls prefer to order a bouquet from wedding florists (read here how to choose a real professional). Someone collects in advance and from artificial materials. But there are also such craftsmen who create a wedding bouquet with their own hands.

How to choose the style

When choosing the composition of the composition, it is very important to take into account the style in which the wedding is planned, what colors are used in the decoration, the seasonality of flowers and their resistance to weather conditions.

  • For weddings in a rustic style, country, hippies, it is better to turn your attention to wildflowers, which are successfully cultivated in greenhouses along with garden ones.
  • For a magnificent celebration, bouquets are made to match - expensive, richly decorated, with exotic flowers.
  • For unusual, themed weddings, unusual accessories are also made - in them you can find everything: from lotus flowers to succulents, cotton bolls and feathers.
  • For a classic wedding - smooth, "sleek" compositions with classic colors.
