A Taste Of Brighton: Coffee, Ice Cream And A Royal Palace

Good morning everyone. I hope January is treating you well and you’ve all had a great few weeks to kick off the new year! I thought it was about time that I share with you some of the day trips I’ve been doing from London, and first up on my list is Brighton.  Englands seaside city, and home to the most delicious organic ice cream ever!

To get to Brighton, it’s super easy and takes just over an hour by train from South East London. I would recommend pre booking your tickets, because the earlier you do it, the cheaper they’ll be, and the last thing you want is to be stranded at Brighton station after a fun filled day, because all tickets back to London are sold out!

If you’ve heard of Brighton, then you’ve no doubt heard about the famous Brighton Pier. This is generally the point of interest most visitors seek and I was no exception. Missing the beaches in Australia, I was beyond excited to get my bikini on, and soak up some much needed Vitamin D on the soft white… pebbles? Ok, so this was not the beach I was envisioning but I quickly learned that it’s quite common for “beaches” here to have pebbles instead of sand. So instead of sun baking, I opted for a nice walk along the pier and it was beautiful.

Next up on my agenda was a visit to the laneways. Full of vintage shops, cute boutiques and great places to eat and drink. If there’s one thing Brighton does well, it’s their food, and of course I just had to pay a visit to Brass Monkey where their ice cream is 100% organic. I had organs choc chip, which is hands down my new favourite flavour.

Now it’s not a trip to Brighton unless you take a stroll over to the Royal Pavilion. Built as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, this architecture beauty is not one to miss. I didn’t pay to go inside, instead appreciating it’s beauty from the outside, as I sat amongst locals, enjoying a picnic lunch I had packed for myself.

There’s so much that Brighton has to offer, making the perfect destination for a day trip or a weekend away.
